Q: What is the Catacomb folder in the Macintosh HD > Library responsible for?

While looking through the Library folder I came across an unusual Catacomb folder which I'm not used to seeing. Does anyone know what it's responsible for?

MacBook Pro with Retina display, iOS 10.2.1

I have this folder too on a MacBook Pro with Touch Bar. The files inside are binary property lists and looking at those indicates that they are related to TouchID and finger prints.

Not a normal Mac folder.  see: What's up with this? Catacomb folder?

I have these files on my Late 2016 15" Macbook Pro w/Touch Bar, and the dates are current (as in today in some cases):

    -rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  -   340 Feb 24 08:37 biolockout.cat

    -rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  -   587 Feb 24 08:37 master.cat

    -rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  - 37500 Feb 24 08:37 user_000001f5.cat

    -rw-r--r--  1 root  wheel  -   583 Jan 10 21:02 user_000001f6.cat

It does not seem to exist on my other Macs.

What wrong with pasting the results?  The thinking is I think that you acquired some dubious software on your mac and we want to check it out.

I just checked my previous Macbook Pro (the one I used Migration Assistant to move to my current Late 2016 15" Macbook Pro w/Touch Bar).  The older Macbook Pro does NOT have a /Library/Catacomb directory.

So from my perspective, /Library/Catacomb is either specific to Sierra, or specific to the Touch Bar/Finger Print reader.

I don't have it on my old MBA with Sierra, so looks like its touchbar specific.
